sea craft 18sf transom angle
I've read how to use a carpenters square to find transom angle, however is this possible with motor hung. getting ready to order bracket in next week or 2 and still gotta buy a carpenters square. am I gunna be able to get measurement on 20in transom with motor hung? anybody know what the 75 18sf transom angle is.

I have one of these that has come in handy over the years although I dont remember paying that much for it. There should be enough room to get a measurement with this little tool.

I assume each degree past 90 degrees is 1 degree? Therefore if keep to transom is 102 I have 12degree transom

You should be able to fit the small side of the square between the Motor mounts , if not yank the motor , you’ll be happy you did , I see a lot of guys on the water and their brackets look ridiculous cause it isn’t level with the boat .

I measured from the hull outside edge on both port and starboard side with carpenters square. I also measure as tight to engine on both sides. all three produce 3.75 assuming I have a 15 degree transom. would you guys trust this or do I really need to pull motor and measure off of keel? I measure many times between motor and the outside edge just couldn't get centered on keel. imready to order my bracket otherwise.

I don’t remember exactly on my 18 build but it was about 14 to 16°.

Go to the Armstrong site. It shows how to use square to determine transom angle. Most are about 15 degree. 1 degree either way won't be noticeable or affect performance.

ordered my bracket 20in setback 70in wide swim platform with 36in wide flotation chamber 20in deep in center and 13in deep on sides. ordered from custom marine welding. 15 degree transom

will be setup for 25in shaft motor. going back and forth between zuk 140 and mercy 115prosx. gunna put the yams 2 stroke 115 with 5in bay mfrg kit and use that as baseline to make decision on motor. the merc weights about same so that will help me make decision if I wanna jump up to 140 Suzuki
