Default Re: Left vs. Right & Yami v. 'Rudes

Both great engines but you are comparing apples to oranges. The Rude is a DFI and the Yammie is just an EFI. Do you want the DFI? Does burning 4 more GPH with the Yammie bother you? This is what you need to determine as they are both great engines. The only difference you will find with the LHR engine is instead of it pulling right, it will pull left(torque steer). Props are really cheap for them and if you need one, let me know.

Squid the reason why your mechanic finds All those parts on engines is because yamaha takes OMC and Merc engines and copies what they want....perfect it some and then paint it blue silver. The engine that put Yamaha on the map and still made today(Not in USA) is the 55hp Enduro. It is a clone of an OMC 2cyl powerhead and a mercury foot with a Yamaha midsection. If you look at Yammies, you will see that they are copycats for the most part. No biggie but your mechanic got things backwards. Mariners are no longer made for US use....export only.

Oh Hooper...did you try Doug Russell? He has Evinrudes in stock and pretty cheap. They advertise in just about every magazine....located in MA.
