That may be underpowered, but it comes off! I may call about it to find out what performance is claimed. We had a 200 on a 70's Seacraft c/c and it looked like it was stressing the transom when "floored". I guess the 18's are as strong if one will stay together with a 200 Mariner?

Checked with seller and the boat runs 32-34 mph at top end.
A marina owner I talked to in FLA nicknamed over powered boats "SinkCrafts" supposedly because jamming scuppers and transom height made them suseptible to filling up when moored carelessly.

Key word is carelessly. But anyway, the 200 was on it when purchased so until it decides to take a rest I will run it. I'm not a speed demon anyway. I get it up on plane and cruise at 3800 RPM. I like comfort Zone. I have a friend with a 130 and he likes it very much. So when this goes thats probably what I'll go with. But a 90 is not enough and Yes the transom is strong.

I had an 18' with a 130 on it and that was plenty for that boat. A 90 may not be exactly a speed demon but it will get you to the fish [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]
One other thing - those boats are tailheavy, putting a heavy engine on the back end will guarantee wet feet. [ August 11, 2003, 02:27 PM: Message edited by: Mark ]
