Re: 1966 Seacraft
I was concerned at first with all that weight up front, 240 pounds of gas full + that aluminum tank weight. I took a chance anyhow since original was 20 gallons and 120 pounds and in "coonass" engineering dats one less lady rideing in the bow seat. Anyhow I took it out twice and all seems good. The boat floats slightly to the stern at the dock. The tank is where the original was, right under the bow seat, back against the step. Do you think that because this boat was outboard from the factory and rated for 185HP they used this tank set up? There was never a floor tank in the dry storage hole, which seems to be standard in IB/OB 19' Seacrafts. I've gotten plenty compliments on the way the boat cleaned up. People don't think it is a 1966 model. I hadn't heard of Seacraft prior to last October and found this web site afterwards. The boat looked so bad and was so old, the previous owner said he would "throw" the 38 year old boat, 32 year old trailer and 16 year old motor in if I bought the "boat shed" and took over the lease. Now I know what a deal I made!

Re: 1966 Seacraft
Interresting..David...Mine is a 67 and it is a factory outboard set-up. The boat was bought new by my Uncle in 67 and came with a 100hp Rude. But it's only rated for 135hp, which is what the id plate says thats on the boat by the step into the bow. My tank has always been in the floor and was made to be there. There is a gusset type mold-in in the deck right behind the helm chair. This is were the fuel fill and vent lines run.. Is it in your 66.

Re: 1966 Seacraft
Don,
I have that gusset and wondered why it was only on one side of the boat. Now I know. Where is the fill cap on yours? My boat had a glassed in copper tube on the port side from stern to bow tank area. I bought my boat from the origial owners son. I fact I brought the boat to show his parents how it came out Sunday. No doubt it had a bow tank from day one. You have me wondering now. I read 185HP on the tag. The tag is in good shape. Hope I read right. Will check it again this weekend. I hope it is not 135. State Farm will give me hell. Hope that "8" is not a "3". Will let you know.

Re: 1966 Seacraft
Don,
I am curious, did you recheck your tag? Is it rated for 135 or 185HP like my 1966?

Re: 1966 Seacraft
I have a 1965 bowrider 19. Father bought new, I bought from him in 1976. Have all original literature, sales receipts, pics, etc. Mine is an I/O, (original 150 Mercruiser), but have info on the outboard models. Mine has 28 gallon fuel tank in center of boat. Know of three others that are the same. After over 2000 hours on the clock, she still burns between 5 and 6 gph at 3200/3500 rpm cruise (30mph) with a 19" pitch ss prop. currently own three other boats, and have owned one other seacraft 19, but will never part with this boat. Love it so much, I built a stainless steel trailer 15 years ago for it.
