I am pickin up my 1969 20 seacraft and it looks identical to luna1089's. I would like to do some of the same mods by moving the console forward as well and put the tank under the floor and have a few questions.

-Michael A, how much more is the deck raised were it keys into the console? Can I simply cut that portion of the deck flush and reglass?

-Caymanboy, when you put your tank below deck how did you turn the floor into a hatch? What's the best way to secure the tank?

I agree with JW Tex. I would skinny the console if you can, gives you a lot more room to walk around.

My console is 30" wide, which gives me a few more inches around each side. Worth it if you can do it, no big deal if you don't.

I cut the floor right done the middle or little to the outboard of the stringers, finished the edges, fastened the deck to the stringer, applied crossed butt joints at the forward and aft part of the hatch, made supports accross the keel for the tank, had the tank made with taps on top, screwed thru the tabs into the stringer to fasten the tank. Glassed the edges of the cut out piece and used that as the hatch.

Caymanboy you make it sound like its so easy, i hope it is .
i just started sanding, and it looks like my cc is glassed to the floor and gellcoted over don't know what to do yet about that.
i have to admit am a bit scared of cutting up the floor , but i will be doing it hopefully in a couple of weeks.
i just saw your latest project, and i love the finish product, nice job.

Mitchman i guess wee can go threw the process together lol
