Re: My 1978 18' SeaCraft Center Console Offshore Boat
I replied to one of your posts earlier, but, welcome and nice to have another 18 footer out there. I guess we're bookends. I'll try to help any way I can and will probably be calling on you for some info. My uncle was instrumental in my getting mine. I'm sure we'll have lots of notes to compare. See ya!
PS Scored my old outriggers the other day. I guess that whole 'goes around, comes around' thing kicked in.

Re: My 1978 18' SeaCraft Center Console Offshore Boat
Welcome aboard! No plate on mine either. I've noticed weight distribution makes a big difference in the way she handles the rough stuff. Try to keep the weight balanced around the center of gravity. COG is roughly the middle of the fuel tank hatch. 18 specs

Re: My 1978 18' SeaCraft Center Console Offshore Boat
Yea....I actually have done a lot to get it to ride better.I just put the two batteries forward under the center console's lift up seat.one was in the portside transom storage and the other on the portside under the helm.whoever wired it used various sized battery cables so I used #2 marine battery wire for everything.I also just set up the scotty electric downriggers so I stow the 10&15lb weight sets forward too.all this has helped balance out the boat...especially when I have the trolling motor on it.Forward of the CC I have a second,1/4 scoop auxilary bait tank (for mackeral) I rigged to use when we will fish the Mako aqnd Threshers this summer.I am gonna take her out this weekend and run around with everything working just to check her out and see how she'll plane with this new layout.I'll let you know how it works out.have a good one and thanks for posting!
