Check these out. Flushmount rears!! No more broken plastic vents! These are flush mount SST. I primed them and then panited them black.

NICE...I like those "flush mounts". Those are West Marine off the shelf?

FYI. My standard black are West off the shelf plastic.

Chuck....the boat looks great

No. I got them from CSC member "Deuce". Not sure where he found them, but glad he did!

The standard front ones are in stock at West Marine though.

I replaced mine a couple of years ago. I bought them from Mesco and they were like $8. Nothing fancy, just like the ones that came out - well not broken like the ones that came out.

Every year I have to replace those aft vents. Dock rash from broad side docking. It only takes one friend to say " I got it... " to hold the boat off the dock - and he doesn't have anything !!!

A hassle because a new one needs to ground down in the back of the vent to make it fit just right.

I have an i/o and like the idea of air circulating in my bilge even though I have fuel injection.

Do your vents recess the same distance as the stock ones or further in ? My vent box is fairly original, maybe a little thicker from when I re-did the transom. Can you find out the manufacturer of them ?

This season I have to pull off the forward vent frames and refinish them - so I would consider doing vents at the same time.

Original SeaCraft vents came with a metal housing that protected the vents from damage. Back when I was a young SeaCraft buck and I was restoring my my first SeaCraft a 23 cc I had decided to glass over the vents because I thought they looked ugly. Immediately one of the older and much wiser SeaCraft seasoned vets asked if he could have my metal housings... I said sure and sent them to him. At some point I decided that it would be better to let the bilge get some air so I installed the plastic vents without the metal housing and it seemed like every other time I went out I was breaking a vent. Moral of the story is to keep the metal frame that protects those vents! That flush mount vent is the way to go. Find out were it came from.

Hey Strick!

I think the metal vent frames were only installed on the forward vents. I have never seen a SC with the vents on the aft... I think any tin knocker/welder could manufacture them easily. My pair need some sanding and a powder job. (9) years ago I Awlgrip'd 'em - I got my $'s worth - just a little oxidation here and there.

If you need the dimensions, I could either mail you one of mine, or I could try to measure it up to STRICK't specifications ...

But, as you mention, the recessed is nice if it were not too recessed....

If I remember right (that is asking a lot), they were Sea Dog. I seem to remember a small fit issue on one side - but it was because the lifting eye bolt was in the way.

Will the metal frames fit on the aft vents? That might protect them.

Yes, but only in the front. Never seen a metal protection housing on the BACK. Anybody else?

Sorry....someone beat me to it, but I agree....

Do the front vent openings on a 23' match the "opening" inside the hull that appears to be a "vent channel"?? This located at rearmost casting deck but does not enter the anchor locker.
