If the seller holds true to his word this one is sold. It will be going back to NC, as soon as details can be worked out. I was going to use the 27' race boat for an offshore fishing vessel but really wanted to restore it original. I wanted something larger and this will be perfect. I looked at a tournament addition before and was waiting for a sf model to show up. If everything works out the race boat will be rebuilt to original speck and be more special that way. There are a ton of cc out there and not many late 60's vintage racers. Soon to start a thread on the rebuild.

Rusty if you are still looking something at the first of the year, I will let you get pick of the litter of ones I'm not rebuilding.

Well, I'm so up set I can't stand it. The seller told me he would hold the boat till I could drive down to get it. He gave me a price and I told him that was no problem and consider it sold. I offered to give him a deposit just to show him that I was serious and thought that was good enough to lock it down till I could make the drive. He told me i had nothing to worry about that he could hold it no problem and that he would even stop taking calls on it. So I called him today to see if it would be fine for my uncle who is local about getting the trailer fixed and he tells me it is gone. I had already arranged everything with him, talked to him five times and he said it was mine and I had two weeks to get it and no worries that he would not take anymore calls on it. I was trying to trust a man I thought, that gave me his word, that he would hold it for me. Luckily I wasn't halfway there from NC when he told me this. You would think someone that sent a deposit on a boat 600mi away would be able to trust a seller to hold it knowing the amount of trouble that I was going threw to make this purchase. I had a member from up here (csc) look at it for me and check it out mainly to verify the condition. The seller just sold it today for $200 more than what we agreed, so he clams anyhow. I would of been glad to pay a little more cash not loose it. He also told me he would not even be home till Monday and that i could not even get it till after then. He clames that the guy who bought it out from under me ended up paying his friend for the boat due to him not being present and his friend signed the title for him forging his signature. I don't know what to believe but know the seller screwed me. I am canceling my deposit check and will watch out better next time. You can't trust some peoples word no more. And if you aint a man of your word them your just a little boy.

That sux, Friz. Would have been a screamin deal for one with the coin and gumption to rebuild her. Would have been righteous in your fleet.

Sorry to hear you got duped by a dirt ball.

But keep the faith.

I once trusted a guy to hold a boat for me 'til I could get 2600 miles to get it. He was true to his word. He even told local buyers it was spoken for, winterized it, and parked his tractor in front of it...

Sure looks better in San Diego than in a field outside of Detroit:

Mike-
I agree the guy has no class. I looked at it 2 days before we talked and when I texted him, he was already trolling for a better offer from you or another person. You are not the only one that got screwed, I bet. Probably at least one other guy trying to buy it.

Crap, I hate to hear that. I was really hoping that you had that sewn up. I wish there would of been some way I could of locked it down for you from here. I could of bought it for you and put it in the yard til you got here. Though I doubt my wife would have believed me as I have used that story before to get a SeaCraft in my yard.

Wife: "What the hell is that?"
Me: "What is what?
Wife: "That big white heap of junk in the back yard."
Me: "Oh thaaaat. It's not junk, its a rare classic Potter hull."
Wife: "Why is it in our back yard! You better not have bought another boat!!"
Me: " Not exactly..... I bought it for this guy who lives somewhere else and can't pick it up for a while.
Wife: "Bullsh*t! Who did you buy it for?
Me: "Some guy on the internet."
Wife: "I hope his wife has room on her couch for both of you..."

This was a deal no matter what for a 27
The thing had been advertised for sale for quite awhile.
Really surprised it lasted this long!

Word has it that 30 Ben's in hand was all it took!!
More later...

It was a deal.....even less than 3. I had a chance to check it out for about 30 min when the seller was not around. It was structurally sound.
