Thank you Flying Frizzle, other members and this site. I located the listing on Monday morning after searching CL, everywhere south of me for two hours, before checking this site about 7 am. By 8, the owner had replied to my email with that picture of her on her side. I committed to the boat and immediately started locating a trailer I could borrow for the day. By Monday night the arrangements were made. Left Bluffton, mainland to Hilton Head Island, Tuesday morning at 8:30 and headed to Charleston.

By 1 I was in his driveway and by 1:40 I was loaded, secured and back on the road. Home drinking beer by 3:30. Awesome Day!!!

I wish that I could tell you this boat was junk. I wish that I could tell you I gave the gentleman a hundred dollar bill for his patience and skill set, being ever so careful loading it with his backhoe. I wish that I could tell you that I had ever entertained the idea of a cuddy. BUT, this hull is in FREAKING AWESOME SHAPE!
So far the only thing missing is the fuel hatch. Even includes every cushion, combing bolsters, and original head. Heavy scrubbing with outdoor bleach and dish detergent is revealing almost perfect gelcoat and absolutely Never bottom painted! This thing is a diamond in the rough!!!

I have had many SeaCrafts in my yard, but this is my second and staying, unfortunately the 79 MA may lose her garage space...

Glad to see you got it, I figured some one did after the gentleman didn't reply to my 5th round of questions, lol. He seemed like a real nice guy and the boat just as well. Very sounded very willing to help load it like you said with the backhoe. Some people wont even help you load a free boat. If it was an hour closer I would of got it right after he posted but like said before I need another SeaCraft like I need a hole in my head. After confirming how nice it is, I almost wish I did get it, but glad you did. Good luck with her and post up some pics once you get it shined up or send them to me and I can post them for you.

Thanks again Frizz. Yes, he had multiple emails from New Bern to Tampa. I thought that someone may offer him cash before I could get up there. Lol. He was a great guy. Unfortunately, he gouged the starboard side, up near the bow, but up high in the flare (usually shadowed, and where I "hide" my reg digits). Almost only damage to entire exterior gelcoat. All glass in tact and no leaks!

Today I began removing trees and leaves. The soap and bleach had filled the rear of cockpit amidst tons of black decaying debris. So I began locating drains. I was really excited to see if the (Mosely/Potter designed) crossover drain tubes were in place. Nope! They drain straight through the bilge and out bottom of hull. I guess you keep the plugs in until on plane and then drain. Appears to have (had) small clam shells just forward.

After rebuilding the transom and repowering of the 79 MA (yes, a few years before I discovered this site) I don't believe this transom has ANY moisture or structural weakness. Unfortunately, in 1999, I was not aware of the weakness in design of the 20 inch transom, so I had it redone and hung a 20 Johnson 175 on the MA. Almost sank her backing off trailer into 3 foot rollers. And yes, I have the shroud.

I'm really liking the enclosed transom and maybe a live well. Guess I should start a new thread. Thanks again!

Thanks, NoBones! So where is the infamous Area 441? I have been off the site for awhile. My brother and I inherited a Jersey Speed Skiff from my father in 2004. We ran with a bunch of retired race boats and drivers relocated to Florida, primarily the ACBA event in Mt. Dora every March. Attended APBA sanctioned events in Marathon, and was involved popping 7 or 8 boats from a vintage mold. Anyway, the Boat Farm is located on the east coast, south of, or in Stuart, Fla.. My idea of Area 441.

I have been refurbishing Boston Whaler 15 Sports, and am getting out of that. Purchased a home in Hernando Beach, Fla., just west of 19 in Spring Hill. My MA was up to the challenge, just requiring a new fuel cell from Sunshine Tanks, and a brother SeaCraft owner.

Recently, and unexpectedly, I am a retired, 22 year career firefighter. The only other thing I know is boats and woodworking. So I was looking for a project. I had no idea that I would consider being a cuddy guy, having been a bachelor my whole life. This thing just has so much potential.

I am not an IO guy, after blowing so many 283 SBC, and most recently a couple of 350's. Mounted backwards, and a direct drive double bicycle style drive chain. One to one ratio straight to the prop shaft. Yeah, crazy at best. 600 lb. flat bottom and sitting against the transom. 75 mph on the water is nuts. Like trying to control a 1600 lb bathtub!!!

Congrats Part II,
The Seafari is the very definition of 20' potential. At a cost of free plus your time and effort, you are one lucky bachelor!

Your in a pretty good location for Seacraft pals, gotta be 2) guys on the board within 20 minutes of you, including the grand poohbah of Seafaris, Bushwacker; the master of the closed transom, Mr. Hermco to the north: and the culinary captain, and Slacker Master Chef GFS in the vicinity.

Actually McGil, I am in SC at the bottom of the coast. Very close to Savannah, GA.. But I like it here. Almost 22 years here and a nice place to come home to, especially after visiting the Jersey Shore, where I spent the first 25 years of my life.

Now I have three years of Disability before rolling over into Retirement April Fools Day, 2018. So this is the perfect project! Then one of the 20's will follow me down to the Gulf Coast. So much better fishing.

Wait, y'all pick up Seacrafts? I'm getting ready to pick up a 23' Sceptre next week. I live very close to Edisto Beach and the boat I'm picking up has a welded bow rail and some other goodies mine is missing. I'll transfer my pieces that I don't want over to that boat and then I'll dump her.
