nice ride sir, i have the same boat but with a 250 vrod... when i repower, i plan to put the 400 merc on it. weighs exactly same as my current 30" 250, @ 676 lbs.. already have all the merc DTS so everything will be plug and play. gain 150 hp, 6 years warranty, no extra weight added... then i can keep with you

Alright Capt., now you have me interested with the 400 Merc. Per the CSC rules, which I just made up, we need pictures especially on plane.

BUT with that said, for those of us that have the newer composite bass pro boats that are already smartcraft rigged, it's kind of a no brainer to remain with the DTS rigging. back then they didn't have 300, 350, and 400 options, only 250 and 275. who knew that 14 years later in the future, while everybody was bitching back then about how heavy they were, they would have a 300, 350, and 400 that weighs the same..... should be an obvious repower option for current composite boat needing repower, makes perfect sense to me anyway... weight wont be the issue because it's the same. question will be whether or not the transom will fail or not with 150 more HP. We will find out one day! |

sounds high, got a t-top with enclosure that stays on year round, im hitting around 45-47 now , was thinking an honest 12-14 mph gain, upper 50s for sure and not surprised to kiss 60- 65-70 mph seems high, but giddy up girl!!
i mainly want just a faster cruise (inshore). i cruise 26-27 knots now at 4200, should be around 35 knots at 4200, with the 400 and a much taller screw. gonna be fun and interesting getting this beast propped. but the fuel burn will be same at 4200, but going much faster at same rpm/fuel burn, therefore much improved mpg. that's what i really like, and 6 years warranty, whereas i'm out warranty now. |
