Thank God for some mercy by weakening Frances. I wouldn't take my boots off yet, though...

Hang in there those involved...

Same from me to y'all in mid eastern Florida, please take care and be safe. We're now feeling some of Frances' strength here in Miami-Dade but thank God it's not too bad. My son's boss, owner of ACE Hardware in Miller Square was good enough to let me store my boat in his warehouse so it's real safe there, that warehouse next to tamiami airport came through unscathed through Andrew so I'm relieved. My whole neighborhood had a "hurricane shutter party" yesterday where we all got together and shuttered all our homes, especially for all the single ladies who couldn't carry those heavy shutters up the ladders. It sure is nice to have such good neighbors! To all of us in Southeast Florida I wish us the best of luck.

I spoke with Mike at Wildfire Marine in Stuart at 8pm on Saturday and heard that the VW dealer, Howard Johnson's, etc had lost their roofs (along with many other businesses along US1), the water was well into the parking lot at Bare Bones in Manatee Pocket, and the wind from the eye wall was about 15 to 20 minutes away. He was hunkered down underneath an offshore racing catamaran inside his warehouse.

I just hope I have a house to go back to

Well it is approx 11 AM on Sunday and here in Fort Lauderdale everything is looking pretty good. I took a drive at around 9 AM and all I saw was some fallen trees and broken limps it seems the Broward county was sparred the worst of this one. Looks like Stuart is taking the worst of this storm. I hope everyone gets through it fine. For me only a bad case of cabin fever been in the house since Thursday afternoon (too much quality time with the wife).

My Family, SeaCraft, and House survived. At 0100 hours on Sunday (Frances landfall) I had the priviledge of being on the Palm Beach / Broward line when some Rocket Scientist in a hotel decided the best way to make light was to light pages of the yellow pages in his bathroom sink. Needless to say that he was well done by the time the FD put out the room. (Personally I like my steaks medium rare) The noise and flying debris that the hurricane made was very scary. I live in Hollywood and was blessed to come home from a 36 hour day to Power, Cable and DSL. My boat fund money is headed toward a whole house generator incase Im not so lucky next time (hope Generaider is reading this, hint hint) I hope everyone and their families survived. I also hope our hard hit bretheren in Palm Beach are alive and well.

Hold on to your lug nuts Ivan is on it's way!
