The old floor has glass on top, with gelcoat on top of that, the bottom may have a layer of glass or just coated with resin, it is usually just mudded or bonded to the stringers and pressure points with Potter Puddy, most times in older boats it has come loose in some or most spots. Really not too hard to cut out, measure twice and cut once they always say, the hatch will want to warp after you cut it.

thanks for the advice. im sure i will need it.
i saw on both of your boats you have very nice looking swim platforms, i've been looking for it at work (westmarine) but cant seem to find it anywhere.
what brand are they, and where you get them.

Sounds good luna1089. I'm on cape cod, otherwise I'd come lend a hand! Im very scared to cut into the floor of a boat that I just bought....especially when the floor feels solid!

if i remember correctly caymanboys swim platforms are custom made.
