FR Frank,

I have 6 hard casters that are either 4" of 6". I am not really sure what 8" soft casters are. Can you buy them at Home Depot or do you have to go to an industrail supply house?

Thank you

ed

the mekp is dark red and it turns the pink resin dark. back to the clear hardener now so it should be normal colored...

the rollers are 4" rated for 350# and get hung up on a couple cracks but so far work well. i kind of slapped this together so i wonder how long it'll hold up.

Wow. I've never seen polyester resin that color. I thought it might be epoxy resin that had sat long enough for the hardener to turn dark. It gets about that color.

I used casters like yours on my gantry crane and on the cradle for my Hewes Bonefisher. I got them at Lowes for about $10 each. Fr. Frank is right. The larger diameter wheels roll a lot easier. The heavy duty casters I used for the dolly under my Seafari have 4" wheels and can be difficult to get started rolling. Then again, it weighs 3000lbs, so I should probably expect to have to give it a good shove to get it going.

Your 20 is looking good. Nice precision work on that deck. Looks like it fits like a glove.

Default Makin progress

Great last couple days. Got the top layer of glass on the deck, its 2408 and it burns through resin like theres no tomorrow. Hit it with the grinder and its ready for another after its glued to the stringers. Poured some foam in and got the rigging tube in too. Got the holesaw out and went 4 for 4, all right where they should be

The forward thru hull was corroded, dealt with it the easy way.

Soft casters have metal wheels with non-pneumatic poly or rubber tires. Hard casters use metal wheels with no tires. We used to get them from a local industrial supply, but I have seen them at Northern Tool & Hydraulic up to 10" in non-pneumatic soft poly. I think harbor Freight also carries them, in 800 or 900 lb capacity. The ones we used were rated at 1200 lbs, each, but we exceeded that often. We even put a 34' Wellcraft St. Tropez on one of these wooden cradles, (although we beefed it up a bit, using doubled 2"x12"x12' bunks). It was a b**ch to move that thing around the showroom. It took 4 men to move it.

Default More pictures

About 2.5 gals of polyester and 1 pound of cabosil on the stringers and around the sides, gave it a nice little fillet and then glassed it in. While that set up I got to work on an old Mako 19 console that I'm planning on using. Its wide but is a lot nicer than the original.

What are peoples dimensions, mainly height and width. I'm thinking around 34" to the wheel and then up to about 48" without a windshield. May do a T-Top, maybe just a radar bar.

Default Starting up again

Just tried to roll it out of the garage and she definitely got wider this winter- barely fit through the door. I thought I was safe with the floor in and the cap on but not the case. Seems to have bulged from the waterline not really the gunnel. Will need some convincing to get it back...
