Interesting the bow flare at the cap is something that I had considered, would be very easy, and would take on more of a Carolina flare. The only change i have considered. if you kept the curve constant it may mean 6" and not sure how much that would help with spray.
those deep steps kick the water out very far at speed and its going to come back at you with the right wind anger and speed regardless . isn't it uncanny how often regardless of hull that wind , speed and quartering is just right for a wet ride?

Your spot on, we have discussed this many times on different threads. I got soaked crossing Lake Okee in a NW
12--15kt wind slapping my stbd quarter ..... I was sure glad it was fresh water and didn't need a mask & snorkel.
Btw: it was a 3' confused slop. I just could not get on top to get the "soft entry feel"
I am glad to see you take on this project. I await pictures

Lollygagger???
Haha
The mods be vicious...

Brian, as you know there are not many bad lines there.

The transition from flair to the flat just below the cap is one to my eye.

This is what my wife wanted it works for me, it's stainless and will be re upholstered.
Got a t-top and large step in console/ head.
I selected everything now so that I may start arranging the placement on the deck, and planning the below deck systems.

Brian,
Is that the epic salvage expedition hull from the Keys? Or another find?

Is there any reason not to continue outward with the flare returning more water away? The only ride detriment I can think of (albeit valid) is getting pushed around more by a wall of water in a mixed up sea while quartering in to it.

Any thoughts or insight in this?
Gillie, Mr. Moesly told me that he intentionally designed the 21 with very little dynamic lift, "because if there is a lot of vertical motion, you're not making much forward progress!"

I believe Moesly fully intended to race the boat from the start, so he was very focused on a good ride and wasn't particularly concerned with how wet it was! That wrap around windshield also provides pretty good protection. Most of the race boats don't seem to have much flare in them, and neither does the 19' Bowrider, which was his second design. The big high bow provides enough buoyancy to keep green water off the deck but doesn't create the lift you'd get with a lot wider flare. On his 3rd design, where he modified the 19' hull to create the 20, he did add a narrow 3/4" wide flat at the chine on the front 3rd of the hull, which makes the 20 ride quite a bit drier than the 19. I would suggest that the addition of such a flat at the chine would make the ride of the 21 quite a bit drier in moderate conditions with very little change to it's awesome ride in really rough conditions! However the average guy probably does not run the boat in big seas often enough to really appreciate the 21's unique capability, and a dry ride is a big selling point to the average boater, so you might be able to make a good business case for also adding more flare and the graceful clipper bow like Moesly did on the 19->20 modification. Maybe that would allow you to make it a "Moesly 23" that rides much better than the Potter 23!

HaHa! I love it! the hull bottom won't be touched, i like the look of the additional flare, but thats all the change would be for, so I will likely leave it alone.
I sought out this hull because it is the best riding hull and wanted to fish when the fair weather guys wouldn't. you will probably see that in some of my very early dialogue on the site.
i'm very convicted in that hull performance. I have the capital to do whatever I want with it, I'm leaving it alone.
Its always about the smoothness of the ride, the way i fish, all boats are wet.
I brought her to the dance and went home with her, now I'm taking her twin to the dance......

I really liked the look of the 21 with the seafari cabin. That would be the best pocket cruiser.
