Just made it home . . . I'm still dizzy from the resin. I forgot to bring my camera today . . . so here's some of chuck's pics.

There is nothing that compares to the resin high! You gotta love it.........

Ken - It was BAD. I left a roll of paper towels in the back of the truck going home. There was a 60ft "quicker picker upper" tail on my truck . . . didn't even realize it until I pulled into a gas station.

The pic above is the first of 10 layers of glass.
I love 18oz roving!! The two layers of mat were real tough to get on (and get the air pockets out), but after that everything got a lot easier (I'm sure the fumes helped a bit too). Somehow the pail of resin seemed to just give and give. I thought for sure we'd run out, but we started with 4 gallons and there is still 1.5 gallons or so left. The last layer went on beautifully. I'm very happy with the results of the layup . . . can't wait to break open this mold. Thanks again Chuck!!

I was giving Tim a hard time about that colored template he made. He spent several hours pre cutting all his glass before he started but it did make the lay up go much faster.

Strick - So the same stuff you used before? Sorry for all the questions about clay but I have an idea that I am going to try using a large piece of plate glass that I have as a forming table and some pieces of corian. The clay would be used for fillets obviously. Now I need to find that clay. Thanks.

On the transom cap I used both those shown in the pic above. Do not use the oven craft clay because it is water based. The Super Sculpey clay is nice to work with because it is kinda like wax. I've used other oil based clays and they work ok. Just dont use the water based stuff. Tim used bondo on some areas of his swim platform and he had good luck. He put down tape so he would not make a mess. You sometimes have to sand the bondo or run a light layer of clay over it to make it smooth.

Bobby - here's the layup that I used for the Bracket Tub.

2 layers of 1/2 oz mat
2 layers of 1708
8 layers of alternating 1/2 oz mat and 18 oz roving

All corners were done with 6" wide overlapping 1708 tape.
The bottom/side pieces overlap at the "keel" to there are essentially 16 layers over an inch of glass at the keel.

The tub took about 6 gallons of resin.
The swim platform part took about 2.5 gallons
I'm gonna core the platform, so I'll probably use up another 2 gallons of resin.

The widest part of the bracket was 38" (b/c I had 38" wide 1/2oz mat).

The engine stand would have helped a lot during the layup.
