The twin 200 hp Yamaha HPDI's outboards were the fastest, but $9K more than the gas sterndrive. Projected life: 2000 hours. an extra $16K over the gas sterndrive, you could get the 250 hp diesel sterndrive/duoprop. Projected life: 10,000 hours. This diesel option got you 12 mph less than the outboards, and 7 mph less than the gas sterndrive at WOT. Recommended cruising speeds were 7 kts less and 4 kts less, respectively. Volvo claimed it used only 7.4 gph at 21 kts cruise, compared to 13 gph for the gas sterndrive at 25kts, and 25 gph for the twin outboards at 28 kts cruise. That's a fuel cost per operating hour of $29.60 for the diesel (at current marina price of $3.99 per gallon), $53.56 per hour for the gas sterndrive (at $4.18 per gallon current marina price), and $104.50 per hour for the outboards.

I think this thread has hit a nerve and will result in very interesting and usefull information. Let's keep it going or start another thread. I honestly believe most, if not all of us can learn from this and why not? That's the best thing about this site.
Well, that and the friends we make! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Fr.Frank, I thought only a few of the '06-'07 26' Albins were made with the 350hp Volvos and jackshaft sterndrive??
Sorry to derail the thread a bit...great info, Steve |

The Albin 26 came in straight inboard mostly. They made a few stern drives with Volve Diesel power, but I don't think they ever made one with an outboard option, or even a gas option for that matter. If they did make a gas powered boat I bet they only made a few.
We are talking about the Albin 26 CC that was once a Cape Cod 26 designed on the Cape by Ron Meynord that was a stretched 23 SeaCraft right...? |

Frank, another great post, thanks.
Here is what is on the cape cod marine site now: http://www.capecodmarineinc.com/brokerage.htm - Looks like a good mix of Yanmar and Volvo. Are these boats loud? Loud NOISES! |

I just bought a 23 CC inboard 350 MAG MPI What size prop should be on it? The one on it now is way too small. The boat hits the rev limiter at 3/4 throttle.
