I have Verizon. My daughters i phone screen is broken. Most of her friends have i phones with broken screens. I will look up those screen protectors you guys mentioned. I can get a new palm for a little over a hundred bucks on e bay. Having my schedule and contacts all on one unit is tempting which is why I'm leaning toward a smart phone. I have NOT been impressed with battery life on any cell phone I have owned. Also all those cool apps you guys are showing are tempting me to join the smart phone club.

Our family (4) all have iphones and like them...no broken screens and we have had the phones almost a year.

I think the best advise is to get what most of your friends and family have. It shortens the learning curve and you get to see what apps they like and think are a waste.

That was our reason for choosing iphone and we are not sorry. I will say if you text a lot the key board takes some getting use to. However I use the voice recognition to do most of my texting and searching.

HTC One X, Android 4.1 Just switched over from a 6 yr. old Samsung BlackJack that was running Windows CE 5.2. Neoprene protective case, film screen protectors, + keeping fingers crossed.

That old Samsung was sure durable, though. The new Samsungs were WAY too expensive. Galaxy III was $200 even with a contract! The HTC One X was FREE and had newer version of Android OS. AT&T family plan, 4 smart phones, 2g data each and unlimited everything else, $170. (I've had AT&T since 1999).

Favorite APP is Garmin Pilot. (Aviation GPS and Flight Planner)

I've got an iphone 5 in a lifeproof case. Battery lasts about 2 days and the lifeproof is waterproof. Only downside is the phone is $200 and that fancy case is another $80. Very happy with the setup though, been dropped and submerged.

I don't know why I never checked back with this thread.I asked about apps on a tablet,on a seperate thread, when all I had to do was search this thread again.Must be having senior moments.

I guess it was after saying that I would never get a smart phone,I did something even more crazy.I went into a Verizon store to see about getting a hot spot so that I could get an internet connection at my camp.
I figured that I could pick up a cheap lap top and do the wireless thing through the hot spot.
Instead I dropped $600.00 on a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet,so now I can get a signal wherever I have cell service.
I looked at both the Samsung, and the I-Pad, both the same price.I chose the samsung for the larger screen(about 7x10) and more memory.(16 gigs)
Both are nice, ended up with the galaxy for a few other reasons as well, one being it supports the Adobe Flash.
Now I have to learn the ins and outs of apps and the other goodies it offers.

This thread was a big help in what's worked good for many when it comes to apps.
