Well the 140 is 124.7 cubic inches @ 405# and the 150 is 174.9 ci @ 522#, I guess the that extra 50ci has seriously heavy pistons!

Bass Pro Shops is right around the corner from me. They sell Mercury's. Any recommendation on which one of those I should price out for comparison? I want to make the right decision for me and my boat but so far, I am leaning hard towards a new 140 Suzuki...

This is gotten into a "me and you" conversation. The Merc 150 at 455#, 3.0L is what I would price. Do a lot of price checking, BPS is proud of their engines. I priced a 250 hp two years ago and they were #1.....as in the highest!!

Don V - I plan on doing as much pricing as I can. I have never spent this kind of money on a toy for me. I guess I am a cheap bastard like your avatar says you are LOL

Been reading on here and elsewhere about the Mercury 115 w Command Thrust lower unit. Seems like a great fit for the boat since it weighs a lot less than anything else out there - 365#'s. 72Potter seems to have had great results with this combo. As I have mentioned, I don't need a speed demon and everybody keeps saying here you don't need much HP to move this hull and get up on plane. Going to price that out today as well. Hope to make my decision by tomorrow...

I was talking to member Capt Lloyd today as he has one on his ole 20.
He is a yacht cap and has a great understated knowledge of these hulls. He and many others here love the Zuke 140 on the 20. |
