Transom 1977....splash well
I saw on the pic page that someone had cut out the splash well to gain more room and I would love to copy that or have the guy do it for me and pay him....Please advise
Thanks Capt Jim |

Welcome !!! FellowShip (I bet he's playing at the Dania Flea Market right now) did this to his boat .... Look HERE and HERE Additionally just look around JohnR's Boatzone site in general....You will see lots of really nice work Here is a specific picture of Fellowships boat : There are a few others who have done similar work ..... but Fellowship is an active member ....So I'm sure he will chime in when he gets a chance.... As far as having someone do the work for you .... There are several excellent fiberglass guys in Florida ... some are even members here .... Up here in NJ .... in Northern Ocean County there are two or three guys that do outstanding work .... I've seen it ....and they have worked (done fiberglass work) on boats that I use to work on .... PLUS they have all worked on SeaCrafts ... |

I caution you to be careful what and how much you cut out of that splashwell and the below baitwell. Those sections are part of the structual members of the transom!!! You could have serious problems if they are removed and you do not re-support the transom inside with some knee walls etc. epecially if a bracket is installed

KIDD
Let me know if you need more info on these fiberglass guys up here ..... A couple of weekends ago I saw a 73 that was fully restored .... It is one of the finest restorations I have seen to date ....The boat looks nicer than the new stuff (to me) as it is has the best of the old and new. The guy is very well known up here for his work ... You have 2-150's hanging in the notch ??? How’s your waterline ?? |

Re: Transom 1977....splash well
Scott, the water line is ok, I am in the process of redoing the self bailing by glassing overing the bottom and adding new scupper through the back.......I wish I could raise the transom up about 2" then she would be perfect. She holds 150 gal of fuel too. .....redone in 98 with the engines
I will let you know about the glass guy. Thanks Jim |
