Default Pin Stripe

Hi Guys,
I was going to have my 23 pin striped, but I was quoted a price of $300 for the job (removing the old included). I dont know if thats a good price or not but I may try to do mine myself. Any idea what I should use to remove the old one? Ideas for doing a new one will be appreciated too? Although I still may have it done but I am having a few other things done and not prepared to shell out an extra $300.

thx,
MM

if your pinstripe is not too old and cracked up sometimes a heat gun or hair drier will work,if that dont work go to any automotive paint supply storeand get a 3m pinstripe removing wheel and arbor and let the wheel turn into the direction your removing the stripe. And while your in the paint store ask to see the 3m pinstriping book, there are all different stripes, colors and patterns. You can do it yourself follow the directions on cleaning the surface, have the boat in a place with no breeze, pull the cover off the pinstripe start at one corner( i would start at the transom) attatch2 or 3 inches on the corner than walk to the other end unrolling the pin stripe, pull the backing off and do the whole side of the boat at one time, just site down the pinstripe as your laying it, you can pull it back up to adjust it like you want as long as you dont press on the stripe. It looks alot neater than trying to do 2 or 3 ft at the time, that leaves it wavered. Les
