Default Wiring Help

About to start a rewiring job on a 20' slickcraft center console. I am going with a Blueseas fused switch panel and was wondering what type of fuse or breaker I should use between the battery and the panel??

SlickCraft,
I went with a stereo Fuse holder? Was told it would work .have both batteries going thru 1 block with 2 fuse's.So far so good. Just coat everything w/silicone grease. There big so their easy to remove & replace anywhere.Hard o buy so keep eXtras onboard.Upper left side of photo.

Thanks Capt. Brad. Do you know what size fuse you used? I'm gonna try to find one soon as I can.

I have the Blue Sea's 8 gang panel 8261

I would suggest that you buy a 8271 panel. This one has circuit breakers in it. It was not available when I bought my panel. The 8271 has only been out about a year.

Of corse they make them in lesser switched panel's too.

As to your imedeate question. you need to add up all the amp's of all the curcuit's that your going to run off the panel. Then jump it up maybe 20 more amp's to make way for any additional stuff that you may want to add latter.
Then install a Blue Seas Surface mount breaker beside the Master switch [ON/OFF/1/2] depending on how much amperage your going to push thru this curcuit breaker? A 8ga,6ga or 4ga cable will jump from the master switch out to the breaker and then foward to the console.

Thanks for all the help. I'm gonna order a breaker tomrrow. There were several sizes listed, I guess it wouldn't hurt anthing to go larger than what my total usage will be?
I just signed up to log on to the site, but I have been getting lots of ideas for the last 6 mos. while I've been rebuilding my boat. Thanks for all the help.
