Default Line - X

Has anyone used line x or similar on a boat? You can look at my boat under 78 Sc Hardtop Project and see what we have done...the top and hull sides have been refinished but we have not done the deck. What about a sprayed in deck liner? My truck bed sure is grippy and has held up well for 6 years so why not a boat deck? Any opinions are appreciated!

Used Line x on my new aluminum fuel tank a couple of years ago as reported in this forum. No problems so far. No one responded at that time.

I thought and thought about using Durabak-which seems the best of the surfaces for boat decks-and seems pretty easy to apply. I decided instead to redo the non skid-which was in lousy shape-by sanding it down and taping off the stripes with fineline tape and then applying awlgrip and intergrip and then painting the areas with no non-skid again-very involved, but I'm happy I did it.
Reason for avoiding the rubber surface-while I'm sure it's really durable and probably even more comfortable-
I remember looking at a boat that had it during my boat search and thinking that it probably had something to hide under that surface. It definitely discouraged my from the boat.I wonder what it will do to the value of your boat if you put it on.

I have been told, so this is 2nd hand info, that one of the truck liner spray on coatings absords fish stink. I have also been told one of the coatsings does not absorb smell, I do not remember which was which.

A friend did the deck on his 23 with Rhino liner. It worked o.k. This will be the third season. It's kind of pricey-$1700.

I know of a few boats with truck bed spray liners in them. One of them is a 35 Foot Duffy charter boat and he's had it for about 3+ years now and it looks and works great. It doesn't absorb fish oder either. I'll ask him what kind of liner he's using. It's a very light gray color, I think you have some color choices to choose from now.

Thanks for the replies...it sounds like a good deck covering to me, but I sure don't want something that is going to hold odors. I am not too worried about how it will look, the only thing that will be coated is the deck from the drain rails in. I just want to be able to hose it off and not be slippery. I will talk to a couple local bed liner guys....

Check the Durabak website-if you don't mind doing the prep, you may save yourself a bunch of cash over having it sprayed. The reps there are very helpful if you call them. It's about 120 a gallon which should be just about enough to do your deck.
Warthog-who has his whole project on classicmako.com-used it, I'm pretty sure, on his deck. It looks great.
