Default sterring on a transom mounted motor?

Do i have to install hydraulic sterring on a transom mounted outboard. I want to use a 150 h.p. outboard, but I'm not sure of what make yet. I do know that it will be 4-stroke. I know with a bracket hyd. sterring is a must, but with a transom mount, is it actually a got to?

Its not a got to but it makes life much better.... You can get kits on ebay for alot less than your local marine parts store.
