Aluminum Rod Arch Paint

Hi All,
I just picked up a tired rod arch for the Seafari. I'd like to clean it up and use it but want to remove corrosion and protect it as it is certainly serviceable. Any thoughts on products or processes to:
1. Remove corrosion
2. Prep for primer
3. Primer product
4. Paint product

flitz metal polish can do some amazing things

Marine aluminum is normally anodized. If it's worn away the best thing would be blasting and powder coating.

Unfortunately it's not anodized, so it has taken a beating. I'd like to get it powder-coated but not sure if its worth it. Don't know much about aluminum other than beer cans but I've seen some nice paint jobs on them so I thought maybe paint would preserve the arch for a few more years. I'll look into the flitz too, castalot. Thanks.

1.) Remove Corrosion ------> SALT X

2.)Prep includes Wire Brushing, Sanding and then Filling Holes & Deep Pitting ----->EPOXO 88

3. Paint-----> Call Tom, he will walk you thru the process. NO primer is needed. Do it yourself paint. Tell him I sent ya ---------> Signature Finish

If you look at the Awlgrip prep book it talks about painting aluminum. Theres's a chemical prep process using Alodine that turns the surface of the aluminum into something the epoxy primer will adhere to better.....as well
as the epoxy fairing materials.

If your aluminum has pitting from salt water environment Chloride corrosion you must first get ALL of the corrosion off before you give it the chemical wash or It will not protect your work and the paint will bubble in approx 6 months. If you just try to epoxy over the top and then paint it will bubble as well. You must get all corrosion off first then the two part chemical wash then a coat of epoxy then primer then paint. If not you are wasting your time “if there is Corrosion” on the aluminum trust me on this on.
