Question about my 2 peice deck ?

I have read stricks thread (love his boat) and it seems that most of you guys do not like the 2 peice design of boats like my 78 20SF. But I like it and when i get the chance would love to re-do my deck keeping the 2-peice design. When I do get around to it would the whole top cap have to come off the boat much like what strick did on his ? WOuld this cause any damage to areas that are in great shape ? I have noticed that inside the pockets or gunnal areas there are cracks in the seams the and its got me a bit concerned. I am wondering about this because the main deck where the center console is would deff need to be redon soon but thats about it the rest of my top cap and front deck are super tiddy and would like to perserve that. Sorry I am just a bit bored and looking for some good boat convo with my fellow SCers =)
