Default high voltage output?

I am getting a blinking voltage readout of 16 plus volts when running on my yamaha fourstroke 225 , 2003 model. It is a new motor to me and i don't remember ever seeing anything much over 14.3 on my old 2 stoke 200. Any feedback would be much appreciated .
Thanks Paul
