Foam helps hold water against the tank to cause the equivalent of crevice corrosion, so might as well plan on replacing that tank! Use a pressure washer to blow away all that foam and remove the tank! And DON'T foam in the new tank!

Ok, been a while since I posted anything, put the 20 on the back burner for a while,{deer season in Ga is 4 months long } back on it for a few hours here and there this past few weeks, got the rear deck cut out and the rotten transom removed , then I finished cutting the floor out and got the deck separated from the hull , I dug the foam out around the fuel tank and got it lifted up and our of the hole, now on to clean up and getting all the foam removed, any tips on the best way to accomplish this?

You asked about getting the foam out. Well, for getting every last bit, I would suggest:

I would pull the tank deck/floor, then pressure wash. Then pressure wash with soap, like simple green to degrease. Then pressure wash with clean water. Then grit blast anywhere you want to glass or paint, then pressure wash with clean water again. Then you are cleaned, and you don't need to sand.

How about the foam in the stringers, mine was saturated with water. I ended up cutting the tops off of the stringers and removing all of the foam. It was a real mess but I just couldn't see leaving wet foam in there.

the foam in the stringers is dry, I stuck My moisture meter I use for My house plants into it and it came up dry!. the foam around the gas tank was the only foam that was wet
