23' C/C Anchor box hatch
I have been thinking about replacing my anchor box hatch in the bow of the boat. I was just going to replace it with starboard. Any pics of other ideas, latches, ect ? Picture is of existing hatch.

I think it would be difficult to remove/reinstall the bulkhead without taking off the cap. That would be a big project in itself.

Actually mine has been replaced with starboard and it was quite easy to do. After the rope is out and you take out the screws it will come out easy. You will then use to old one as a pattern for the new one. It does not have any structural value, just keeps the rope in place.

I made mine from 1/2" white Starboard and hid the wash-down hose there

I don't like starboard as it tuff to glue, seal, match colors, screws bugger out easy and it loves to warp.
After cutting out the old bulkhead, save it for a pattern. The new one will have to be installed in two pieces. I chose to use 3/4" PVC board as it is simple to seal, glue, cut, sand & paint. 1. Cut your new bulkhead using your old piece as a pattern. 2. Cut out the hatch door with a jig saw. 3. Now cut the bulkhead in half vertically down the center. 4. Trial fit the hinges, hardware, speakers what ever. 5. Install the two pieces from the inside using PVC glue too seal the two pieces together at the cut lines. 6. Sand & Paint, install the hatch & hardware, then caulk the sides. 7. Load it up with Sears Catalogs
