Ft Lauderdale fishing??
Hey guys, i'll be in Ft Lauderdale for some training during the 19-24th of April. I have no experience fishing down there but hopefully my bass, bonito, and false albie gear will transfer to fishing off the pier down there. I'll be staying at the Hilton on the marina there in Ft. Lauderdale. I'll only be able to fish from after 4pm until i can't keep my eyes open. Any thoughts or insight on whats biting down there that time of year and if some of my current gear/tackle will transfer to catching what ever it is you guys got swimming around down there. Can't wait to get out of the Northeast if it is only for a week after this winter... Thanks guys.

There are still plenty of sails around then - it would be worthwhile to check before you come. Booking a skipper may be tough as there is a big tourney going on in Miami April 24 & 25. Expect to pay through the nose for live bait during tourneys, Live goggle eyes (sailfish bait) will be at least $150/dozen and maybe more - pilchards (dolphin & kings) will be $35-60/dozen. There will be a lot of pressure to catch your own bait too so plan for lots of time catching or lots of cash, take your pick! Dolphin have been pretty steady right through the winter and a few kings should be here too.
The night swordfishing has been hit & miss but it is certainly worthwhile to try it since you are starting out late in the day. Listen to channel 72 in the Lauderdale area, it's good to keep an ear on what is hitting the deck day and night. Swordfish and deep drop reports at http://swordfishingcentral.com/forum/ Everything else at http://forums.floridasportsman.com/f...ishing-Reports and also at http://www.cyberangler.com/fishing-r...rt-lauderdale/ Check a few days before you come and you'll have a better idea of what to expect. Good luck! |

Hello Elijah,
Maybe, I can get you out one night for Swordfishing while your here. Home and business is right down the street (convenient). I'll ask "Dave" wataway2 and see if he is interested too. Go north across the canal from your hotel via (water Taxi) and see the Tarpon feeding at 15th street fisheries, cool to see but, don't drink, just think fishing Shoot me a PM and will try and make it happen.
