Default bluefin tunas anyone?

Taking my 78' 18' somewhere between Morehead City and Oregon Inlet, NC at the end of the month for a few days of tuna fishing.

If anyone wants to haul their boats out there and catch a few bluefins let me know.

Best bite now is down south at Morehead but that could change; several 300 pounders being caught.

I've got a couple of buddies coming in a Cabo and Jarrett Bay so we'll have some opportunities for great pictures with fish and leaving/entering the inlet.

Let me know if you have an open schedule and are interested. We'll definitely catch some fish but gotta keep a pretty big window due to weather. What a site it would be to have a bunch of SeaCrafts fighting giant tunas all within spitting distance of one another! Make sure your transom is dry if you come out, one of these fish could pull the whole thing out!!!!!

Giant bluefin from an 18' boat - that takes '"light tackle" to a new level.

Good luck and let us know how it goes/

From what I hear, the season is closed for commercially selling bluefin, but keeping one for yourself is still a go if you have a tuna permit and stay withing in the size regulations.

Yep-

The commercial season closed a week or two ago but you can keep one in the slot if you have a permit.

I've always said I was going to catch a fish bigger than the boat and mount the boat!!!!

We'll be releasing all of them, personally I think they taste pretty bad. Heck, in the old days bjs [before Japanese sushi] you'd be lucky top get a nickel per pound for them.

We'll be fishing 50 wides w/ 100 pound test on stand up. We've caught several fish over 300 on the boat, mainly blue marlin in the Bahamas, but this will be fun with the potential for snotty weather and the cold. Not to mention the Volkswagons on the other end of the line.

Oh well, I'll try to get some good pics.

Tom.
