Default LT'S BOTTOM PAINT REMOVAL

AAHHHHHH . THIS IS NOT FUN! GOT STARTED SATURDAY AFTERNOON SANDING OFF THE OLD BOTTOM PAINT. PUT SOME TIME IN SUNDAY,AND A COUPLE HOUR'S TODAY. IT'S ALMOST ALL OFF NOW,,WHEW . ALL IN ALL, I GUESS IT'S NOT THAT BAD.IT'LL BE ABOUT 14 HOUR'S TOTAL, AND I'M SAVING $500 BUCK'S. $35 AN HOUR. FACTOR IN THE MICHELOB ULTRA, I'M STILL WAY AHEAD . HOPEFULLY IT GO'S TO MIKE AT WILDFIRE MARINE REAL SOON FOR AN OVERALL PAINT AND MOUNT THE BRACKET.
I'VE TAKEN A FEW PHOTO'S ON REGULAR FILM. IF YOU READ THIS JOHN, MAYBE YOU CAN TELL ME HOW TO SCAN/POST THEM? LT DAN

Yo, Michelob Ultra You on a diet?

How much are you spending to have someone shoot your hull? I'm getting crazy prices here and I'm doing all the prep work myself.

HA ITDAN
THAT’S ONE JOB I PASSED ON WHEN I DID MY BOAT. THANK GOD I RAN OUT OF TIME AND WAS FORCED TO GO WITH A PROFESSIONAL WHO SODA BLASTED OFF THE OLD PAINT. I WAS ON A TIME SCHEDULE FOR LAST YEARS TRIP TO THE KEYS AND SO A PRO WAS CALLED IN. IF I HAD THE TIME I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE SPENT MORE ON BEER THAT THE $600 TO DO MY 23” ONE THINK I REALLY HATE IS TRYING TO SAND OR WHAT EVER METHOD YOU USE TO REMOVE PAINT FROM THE BOTTOM. ALL THAT STUFF FALLING DOWN ON YOU PLUS FIGHTING PAINT FROM THAT OR QUIT POSSESSION WAS NOT FOR ME. I GUESS I RECOVERED $$ WISE BY PAINTING MINE WITH ROLLER AND TIP.

FINSTER, MIKE'S SCUFF AND SHOOT IS AROUND 2K. VERY REASONABLE. IF YOU WANT A SHOW PIECE,IT CAN GET VERY COSTLY.LIKE YOU,I'M DOING SOME PREP TO HELP DEFER SOME COST. IF I HAD A MILLION BUCK'S I'LD STILL DO IT THOUGH(MAYBE NOT SANDING OFF THE BOTTOM PAINT ) I LIKE COLD BEER AND WORKING WITH MY HAND'S,,, IT'S A LABOR OF LOVE I GUESS.
GOOD LUCK FINDING THE RIGHT GUY FOR THE JOB.

$2000.00 to shoot a boat? Must be the New England thriftyness but thats outta control. I painted my 20' sceptre in about and hour in a half total 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of finish and it came out great. I used a BINKS model 18 conventonal gun and a 2 quart pressue cup thinned the paint 15% 65 degrees both days I painted 220 sand inbetween coats looks beeter than most new gel coated boats but you need to remmber there is all kind of danger lurking I.E trailers rocks snags so how much effort is it really worth to get that show qaulity paint job anyway?

HA ITDAN
I’M SURPRISED YOU ARE ABLE TO TYPE ON THE KEYBOARD FOR A WEEK AFTER SANDING OFF THE PAINT FROM THAT OR QUID POSITION. I RUINED MY SHOULDERS WHEN I WAS A KID PLAYING FOOTBALL AND NOW WHEN I WORK OVER MY HEAD I PAY THE PRICE. I RE GEL COATED THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT AFTER REMOVING THE BOTTOM PAINT AND AFTER ONE YEAR I STILL HAVEN’T SANDED IT SMOOTH. I WILL BE DOING THAT JOB THIS SUMMER THOUGH AND AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. GOOD LUCK.

Don, I called this guy Joe recommended and he said he'd shoot it for $250, can't really beat that unless he does a shitty job.

Just got back in from fishing in the rain. Catching bules up to 5lbs. with the flyrod, too much fun.
Waters still too cold for good fluking.
