$9,0000!!!! Mercury is nuts. You can buy three regular gas 4cyl Mercruisers from Doug Russell Marine in Worcester, MA for that price.

Diesel...smiesel. No thanks.

my 350 efi i/o in my 23 tsunami runs 22-24kts at about 7.5 gph-thats about 3.5 mpg,not too shabby for a gas boat!

That Merc diesel is based on an Isuzu truck diesel block that has been around for years. It is a 1.7 litre and pumps out 120 hp. At cruise it burns 2-4 gph. It would be sweet in a 20'. The package is listed her in Florida for $9995.00 including an alpha drive and transom assembly. I remember seeing a report on a 20' Shamrock i/b with a 125hp yanmar. It got 18.5mpg at idle, yes 18.5 mpg and over 9mpg at about an 18kt cruise. The top was 30mph. Check this out: how about going from Ft Lauderdale to The Long Beach Island, NJ on one tank. Range was 900 miles at a slow cruise burning 1.2gph.
