Default Ipswich Bay on fire

Ipswich Bay has been on fire the last few days. Massive schools of blues (8-12lbs) feeding on peanut bunker on the surface. For catching them on the surface, Poppers dont seem to work all that well.....those silly STORM swimming shad baits seem to work best.

FOr trolling, I've been dragging a chartreuse parachute rig on wire in 40-70ft of water or a Rapala CD-18 on mono or braided line. The wire/parachute rig seems to work better than the Rapala. The more line you let out..the better.

I also tried drifting and jigging a leadhead with a shad body in 70ft of water when the schools are down deep and it worked great! It is a lot of fun fighting a 9lb blue on a 15lb spinning gear setup in 70ft of water.

As far as stripers go, I caught a bunch of them (32-34 inches) the week before at night just after dead low with fresh herring chunks.

Paitently waiting for the tuna....hope they show up this year.
