Default Giant tuna - red hot Newburyport

Hi guys-

Just thought you all would like to know that giant bluefin tuna fishing has been red hot off the Newburyport, MA coast the past week. It was good last weekend and then the wind blew out of the northwest on Sunday and cooled off everything for afew days but it picked right back up starting around Wednesday.

One of my clients caught his first tuna yesterday on the 30' Grady White Marlin that I sold to him in July. The fish is estimated to be around 400lbs (will know exact dimensions after it is auctioned off this morning). I also saw two other fish being hauled away to the auction one was about 350lbs and the other was about 125lbs.On Wednesday, another guy brought in an 800lb'er which I did not see. It seems most of the fish are being caught off Whaleback, which is only about 6-7 miles out.

I also have heard reports that the school tuna are out in large numbers in a different spot that is about 20 miles offshore. I am going to try and make a run out there tomorrow or today after work since I don't have the gear for the large tuna.

Anyway, just thought you all might like to know about this. I will post pics tomorrow.

Sorry about the delay. Here is the link to the picture on the Grady website.

Click on the link, then select fishing, and the giant tuna is on the top left. If you click on the photo it will tell you the details of the story.

Nice fish! I'm hoping to get out to the BB buoy next week to do some giant fishing.

Default Fish all over the place today

I took a client out on a demo ride this morning aboard a Grady White 30' Marlin and wouldn't you know.....the bass were bustin everywhere. At one point I even saw a school tuna jump out of the water. Imagine this...."Excuse me Mister So and So...would you mind if we trolled around for a few hours?"

ED - That might be a good way to sell the boats Toss a plug in the middle of the bust'in bass and send him home with a keeper for the family.

Grady White's are fishing boats and you've gotta show the customers . . . just how good the boats are for catching fish.
