Soon to be new owner...have some questions - Page 4

Ron, welcome to the site. Bet you kind of fell like you jumped into the fire. I bought my 1989 Seacraft 23WA new in Feb 89 and really like it. I have received many compliments on the boat here in the great Pacific Northwest. I have not had any problems with the boat and don't plan on getting rid of it. My biggest concern at present is what will I repower it with.[img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]. I am really looking at the new 225-250 E-Tecs.

Not many Seacrafts out there on the west coast are there?
A 250 E-Tec should make it fly.

I'm also seriously considering a 250 ETEC. It should push a 23 beautifully. Think 50?

Luis 3/8 anchor line is plenty for a 23.

I don't think 50 would be a problem.

Just like to say Hi and welcome to the site Ntrain2k. I know you must have a hard job dealing with warranty problems. I don’t care which company one represents warranty problems can always be a difficult issue to make someone happy after they have been disappointed with something they purchased.
My hope is that as time goes on the quality on the new boats and the old ones are the same or even that the new SeaCrafts are even better build and better boats then the old ones were that most of the guys on this site have taken the time and effort to re build with many of the newer materials that are now on the market which you guys use now a days in the new SeaCrafts. It seams like to me that it has not been a mater of design since the new ones are the same as the older boats and it is not a mater of materials used in the construction which most of the old boats that are being re done are replacing with newer type materials. It seems like to me that it is the craftsmanship and the attention’s towards detail that has effected the newer SeaCrafts the most. Which is probably the most noticeable aspect of your job. I am sure that the company (because of profitability) wish would be to be able to put you out of a job because of the quality is so great no Warranty work is needed to be done.
Personally I think that the P.R. of the company with owners of the Mako and SeaCraft Boats Needs A Lot Of Work. It seems to me that the most popular sold boats on the market are the same boats that the P.R. with the public is the highest. Personally I think that the Company is “missing the boat” by not extending a lot of positive relationship with the Classic Mako and the Classic SeaCraft sites to help promote their boats. I know this has worked great for other companies like Bennet Trim Tab for a example.

Well, PR is thankfully not my job!

And I already got the no hair thing covered, smooth is the way to be. Me and Capt. C have been speaking, lol.

I think Red is kin somewhere down the line, though from a slightly crazier branch of the tree...lol.

Thank you for the welcome.Beleive it or not, even though I work in warranty, I would love it if our boats reached the level that my job was no longer necessary. I also agree that more PR work needs to be done, and have discussed it at legnth with some people at the plant. All of the recomendations that have been made to me are being passed along.

Well...I just got off the phone with the Sales Manager who just got off the phone with the factory. He said that my boat is scheduled for completion on April 12 and should be ready for pick up sometime the next week. I am hoping for Saturday the 23rd. The wait has been soooooooooo long...I was told 4-6 weeks...if it does come in when they say, it will make 8 weeks. I'm starting to get excited now and can't wait. I will keep everyone posted and will post pics of the boat, wiring, etc...
