Default Found a 23 and need your honest opinions

Hello guys! First visit to the site, first post, here it goes. I've been looking for a 23 for awhile now, and think I've found a winner but defineatly want you all to weigh in....1986 23 CC, 225 Johnson VRO (not even sure if it runs), fairly new T-top, otherwise all original (gelcoat, fueltank, teak, wireing, ect) with extreemly minor cosmetic wear on the boat inside or out! Bottom line, a friend of mine wants $8500 for the package with no trailer. So????????...........

It sounds like a fair price if the engine runs well. W/o the good engine, drop the value by $2500.

So in your opinion, I should be looking to spend $6000 for an '86 hull in great condition with no power?

It depends on your location. The FL guys get better deals on SC's than us northern guys. Here I would expect that a clean original SC 23 would easily go for double or more.

There was a clean & original '79 23 here with a mid 80's 300GT on it and the asking price was 30k. I don't know what it went for, but it went.

Get the hull ID so we know what we're looking at.

I have the exact same boat, except mine is a 89 and 10 grand, light use, nice gelcoat, always stored inside, ready to fish. Now i have 3 piles of boat and a major rebild going on. No matter how nice it is ,age dictates what is required to make it a top notch boat. When i bought my boat i checked it out good, beat on the transom, stood on the back of the motor checking for deflection, looking for bad spots in the floor, checking the tank. Missed it all,Bet i could spot it now, And mine is 3 years newer.read the post, learn the weak spots and go back with that information then check the boat over again you would be suprised what you find, than decide if its right for you. Price wise you are in the ball park. Les

I've stomped and searched all over this boat. If there's a soft or rotten spot, it's not able to be accesed from the deck or through any of the hatches. Awsome suggustion about the hull number, I'm gonna get it today!

Stam

Bought a sunk '85 last winter for 5 K. Have replaced just about everything (deck, tank, all wiring, all systems, engine, etc.). Agreed with Salvage that it's getting about time to start the refurb. on that boat, as well. IMO 8k is a bit high. If you are looking for something to use immediately and get into other more costly projects slowly, then have the engine checked out by a pro. Good Luck Dink
