Hey guys, I just got done with a long day of fibreglassing and sanding, etc, and was browsing the internet for SeaCraft photos when I came across this forum! I had been looking for a good boating forum and this seems to be a great bunch of members from what I've seen so far. Its tough to find a good forum!
I'm currently putting a new floor (and some stringers to tie into) in my 74 SeaCraft, 19'. My father and I want to finish up this project in about 2 weeks, so I can trouble shoot for 1 week and then take the boat on vacation to Cape Cod. Heres a quick story (although pics will have to wait) behind my boat. It was on the side of the road for sale in my town, in Central Massachusetts. To me, at the time, it was just another boat. I think the price was $500/bo, or something. Anyways, my father couldn't take it home, although he wanted to, because my mother would be very mad. So, instead, he convinced me to take the boat home, because although Mom might get pissed, she couldn't divorce me! I should note that we already have a 21' Aluminum Starcraft center console, an 8' John boat, a 12' aluminum and 14' aluminum boats. So we didn't need this SeaCraft, but after a slight coersion, I was informed on what a quality boat a SeaCraft was, and I immediately wanted it. So, to continue, I talked to the man selling the boat, who was the step father of a boy I went to school with at the time. Because the owner didn't have any luck selling the boat, he gave it to me. It had no engine or outdrive, but it did come with a galvanized trailer! The floor was already cut out (not well), and most of the accessories removed. But I got the gas tank, center console, steering, guages, newly refurbished seats, etc. That winter, I bought a 16 ft. freshwater boat so I could steal the engine and outdrive out of it. Its a Mercruiser 120, inline 4 with an Alpha-1 outdrive. I picked that boat and trailer and motor up for 500 bucks. Had bring that boat to the dump, it broke my heart to see it crushed! It was a nice boat, but the SeaCraft was more worthy of the motor. I'll post some pictures of my progress later. We want to put in the floor this week so I can put the motor and outdrive in the next, then troubleshoot, then go fishing! This forum has definately given me some motivation! -Jonathan
