Something does not sound right about that. Just a little weird. How can a man tred water for 24 hours without a life jacket and not be able to climb aboard the swim platform.

my guess is with 2 artificial hips and the boat drifting away he could'nt swim to it, but made to shore, glad to hear he made it.

It would be hard to get on the platform if the boat was in gear at say idle speed. The platform isn't that wide and with it moving it would be hard to get your body sidways and up onto the platform. Plus you have the worries of those turning props or outdrives...

Maybe the dog committed suicide after it realized it had throne his master overboard?

I also think I smell some rotting fish about his story.
