Default 1989 Raw Water Cooled Ford Block V8 235 HP Engine

I recently bought a 23' CC SF inboard with a 1989 Raw Water Cooled 351 Ford Block V8 235 HP Engine. According to the previous owner there are only 200 hours put onto this engine despite its age. This engine was used mostly in the Great Lakes before it was used in Downeast Maine for one summer season. We replaced this engine with a new volvo diesel so we have no need for it now and are thinking of selling it. However, we are not sure the pricing of the engine. While we have an estimation of what we think it is worth I thought I would ask around to see what others thought. It tested very well at sea trials and survey last summer and has been properly maintained by only one owner. Any comments or estimates would help. Also, if anyone is interested in this engine, feel free to contact me. Thanks!

Ben

A rebuilt short block costs around $1500. A whole new engine with fresh water cooling is probably a around 5500 to $6000. My guess would be between 1500 - 2500.

Not sure what you can get for it,but my 23 Tsunami came with the same exact engine, and strangely it was also a Great Lakes boat(lake Ontario). It was in poor condition, never winterized,The freeze plugs were blown out, block looked ok but i never started it.
I sold the engine in as is condition for $450.00,and sold the 4bbl carb off it for another $95.00.

If i sold this engine in this shape, you should be able to do ok with yours as it's in good shape.Don't give it away cheap.
I fish the Great Lakes, and there's always guys up there looking for motors like yours. It might be a good place to advertise it.
