Default Fuel Water Filter Location on 20s

I'd like to get some ideas where others have mounted their filters. My '83 20'SF offers little room or access in the bilge. The splashwell makes the most sense. What'ya think?

Just install a (WATERTIGHT!) hatch in splashwell to access several cubic feet of space underneath it! I installed a Racor water separating fuel filter, the Bennett trim tab pump and a ground buss for all the aft mounted accessories under the splashwell. A hatch also provides good access to bilge pump and aft end of fuel tank (ground wire and fuel feed & fill hoses). Used to store a couple of gallons of oil for old motor there too; the oil tank for new motor now lives there. When I repowered and installed bracket, was able to remove splashwell entirely and replace with a hinged center seat/hatch.

Mine's in the starboard side aft hatch (bilge access) screwed to the transom. (1979 20' sf) works fine for me.

Also inside starboard hatch but under the splashwell, through-bolted to cockpit wall - no complaints.

I recommend the filter w/ clear bowl

I just removed the one in the bilge and put on a new Racor, the small one(S3240), mounted to the transom inside the engine splashwell. That way, I can see it and drain if needed w/o a hassle. I also have a off/on switch that feeds the fuel line for my 15 hp Honda kicker. The old one was really difficult to change, I think who ever mounted it must have done it before the engine was installed and standing behind the transom as everything was backwards and too low, had to use the short filter.
