Some of the 20's were built with foam filled "box stringers". My 78' Master Angler is an example of such design.

I made a few cuts in the stringers and checked the foam; which ended up being dry. It was easy from there since all I did was reglass the cuts and install the deck.

I was wandering if anyone out there ever modified the stringer configuration?
Or if doing this would compromise the stuctural strenth of the boat by altering its design since its more like a one piece hollow structure.
Im asking this because I got two 25 gal gas tanks and in order to fit both of them I would need to modify the center part of the stringer system.

Why not have a 50+ gal. tank made to fit the opening?

Either way the tank would be mutch biger than the original and wouldnt fit because of the stringer configuration. My debate is that if In were to change the way the stringers were aligned at the factory would that compromise the ride or strenth of the boat.

SeaCrafts are known for there stringer configuration and the strength and size of them. I would keep this for your last resort in changing this, i think it would be a shame. I would try to work around this idea. Good Luck

From what Ive read this is one of the special features of the early seacraft era but when I started digging really deep and tearing everything apart on my bow rider I found that the stringers were coming apart and broken in some areas this boat had a previous repair done on one stringer already and that really aroused my curiosity leading me to find the other cracks on other parts of the stringer system and now I have this dilema in wich I dont know wether to repair the existing stringers or make a whole new syst. of stringers and configure them to fit my two 25gls gas tanks.
Any input is apreciated and welcome!
