Default Need welder in West Palm/ North Palm beach area...

Got another seacraft, a 71 i/o sceptere...in reasonably good shape.

I was doing some work on it this weekend and noticed some fule in the tank tray. Because of the way the motor is mounted there was no way to remove the tank without removing the motor and that wasn't going to happen.

To get the tank out I had to cut a couple inches off the the end...the whole tank is in great shape, save on 1/8 sized whole on the bottom.

I was hopeful that I could find another tank at the Marine Connection in FT pierce (though I hate going there), so I got to work cutting. I called MC later (they are closed Sun and Mon) and no luck.

So I need to locate someone to patch it AND weld another end on it. Obvioulsy I'm trying to save a little cash...otherwise I would have someone build a new one, but that's going to cost more $$$$

I'm hoping one of you guys might be able to help me out or know someone that can. It really seems like a simple job, but what do I know.

Thanks.
Matt

PS I tired 9 ways till Sunday to get it out without cutting it, and it wasn't going to happen.

Joe cipperly (sp) tournament towers I think is the name of his company, he lives out in the acreage and has a shop in his back yard, he does top notch work at a very fair price, I am at school now but will post his number when I get home

Better make sure the tank is cleaned realllllyyyy good before anyone welds on it

Matt,

Take the trip up north..make a day out of it!!!MC charges around 4.00+ per gallon for poly tank and around $5.50 for alum tank....at least when I purchased my tank a year ago. Could be higher now....usually depends who you talk to from my dealings with them!!!!....On other hand I would have welded/repaired my tank too..but it was beyond repair..good luck!!!

fdheld34, already called MC (see above) , they did not have a tank to fit the application, Polly or aluminum.

Ben, Thanks for the info, I'll follow up with him and let you guys know how things work out.

If anyone else things of something, keep them coming, and thanks guys.

Try RDS in Perry Florida. They custom made my tank to replace the original. I sent them the original, and they copied it in new, thicker aluminum.
Here is their website: http://www.rdsaluminum.com/index.html

Matt
Guess I should have read your post more carefully....I went up with my tape measure and found a tank that would work close enough for my application..........looks like you have some good welding information and contacts to start with.......
