For years I teased my folks every time they had a humorous senior moment. There is this screening test called the Clock Drawing Test (CDT) which is given by professionals. It is fairly basic and simple for most people to perform. You simply instruct the individual to draw a clock face with all the number and specify a time you would like them to point to. Analysis of the test can provide information about their general cognitive and adaptive functioning such as memory, how they can process information and their vision. It is used to screen for early Dementia and Alzheimer. DMV’s across the country also use CDT to test aging drivers as a measure of their capacity to operate a motor vehicle safely. Any type of distortion in the drawing indicates some type of cognitive problem.


When I pull up to my father’s house to show him my newest project, his first words were “Draw me a clock!”





Some just lack vision...I told him just need some cleaning, little sanding and a lick of paint. Ya, right...





You can barely see the faded Florida boat registration number in the gel coat. Who knows how long it sat in the bone yard on the dry side of the state. A kid and his buddy rescued it, but they lacked the knowledge or gumption to set her right. Ten years it sat in his yard before he gave up the dream.





The water in the Pacific NW is cold. Dry feet are a must. I would like to extend the bulkheads to give more room in the cuddy. A bracket and stern redo would reclaim the lost deck space. Maybe build in a tuna door for boarding and the really big fish. A roller or pulpit for anchoring. I'm restoring a Montauk right now, so this redo will have to wait....hopefully not too long.

Not too many of us Seacraft nuts on the left coast....I think you are the 4th one. Bigshrimpin was over here for a couple years but then he left taking several seacrafts with him back to the east coast. Looking back I think he was a spy sent over here on a top secret seacraft extraction mission.

Forget the Montauk and bring it to the dump.....now you got a real boat to restore.....whalers wont make a pimple on a seacrafts butt. Hurry and get started on that ole girl...she has waited long enough for some TLC.

I'm glad someone familiar with this site got her. I was trying to justify another boat sitting on my property. You got a very good deal I think. I talked to the owner a week ago, but fortunately had to attend a wedding in Oregon, so couldn't run over and buy it. Keep us updated, and yeah, you really do need to drop the Whaler project. Now we will have at least 3 SeaCrafts on the water in the N.W.

I second the motion of putting the whaler on the back-burner. Your new 23 will be the envy of the community when you're first to the halibut hole and salmon bite, first to grill and last to the walking cane. Nice save. Looking forward to seeing your progress

Aw now guys…the ugly ones need lovin’ too. Also, there are sad, lonely men who will pay good money for a piece of whaler tail.

So the whaler comes first. It will be done soon because hunting starts September 1st and doesn’t end till January 31st. The puppies will hopefully drop following the season’s end, then two months of that hectic joy. So, what is that 6-7 months before I can give my full attention to her? I know I can’t wait that long. I’ll look her over for faults and explore the possibilities before then. So I’ll have plenty of time to line up the suppliers, stuff the bank account and be ready to hit the ground running.
