SOLD!!! to a nice guy who drove from Texas to sea trial her and pick her up. She found a good home for sure! To the rest of you, thanks for looking!
We'll still be on here, because we replaced her with a 20 IO safari :-). These are such great boats. |

Congrats on the sale, I was reviewing your fuel numbers - nearly 50% better than I'm getting on the Seafari w/ a 115 I-6. I suppose you'll do even better w/ the i/o setup...good luck w/ it.

I don't mean to sound like a MPG pervert :-)...but I'm getting over 5 mpg in ideal conditions, top down, trimmed up and over 3.5mpg loaded for bear, both tops up, 4 guys, when it's rough (and we can still plane) with the IO. Even doggin it she does very well. For a cheap outboard rig, the one I just sold was awesome...for an IO the one I have now rocks...
When gas is $5 a gallon I'll still be fishing and Freediving! Tight lines. |

Those numbers for the I/O sound about right; you might check them vs. the Boating magazine article in the Literature section. It's a pretty efficient rig despite the ancient technology engine. The modern 4 stroke outboards aren't much better! 2 different I/O Seafari's have made the run with me to Green Turtle Cay in the Abaco's, via Walkers Cay as I remember. They both burned about 45 gallons vs. about 65 gallons for my old 115 2-stroke. Distance was about 160 nm. That works out to about 4 statute mpg for the I/O vs. about 2.8 for mine. This was with a heavy load with all the gear you'd need for a 2 wk trip, running in the 2' square waves typical of the little Bahama bank, cruising at about 20 kts, which is probably a little faster than optimum for that rig.
