loose console w/ t top, will this work?
so i was coming back in saturday in some choppy seas and realized my t top was loose. upon closer inspection, the back half of my console was not fastened to the deck by anything. t top bolts (thru bolted) straight down in the front, then into the side of the console, nothing in the back. so basically its a giant bobblehead doll. previous owner just 5200d liberally and it stuck. was thinking of using L brackets on the inside of the console after beefing up both sides w/ wood/construction adhesive. cant thrubolt, gas tank in the way. so i will cut 2 5"x8" pieces of treated ply, construction adhesive one to the inside back of console, one to deck on inside, screw down. then make a pretty block corresponding on the outside of the console, bolt two together (sandwiching console w/ wood). then mount L bracket on the inside of the console. w/ the same 5200 all around base, marine caulk on the outside i think ill be ok. cant thru bolt L brackets, gas tank in way. hope this makes sense enough for somebody to shoot holes in it if need be. thanks.

Re: loose console w/ t top, will this work?
it worked. i can use my t top for a pull up bar now. not the prettiest fix ive ever done but solid as a rock. would you believe that the console was "fastened" before w/ just a beefy 5200 caulk joint all around? i cant believe i never noticed that before. glad i was inside the rocks when it broke free, could have been a long ride home from offshore.
