anchor roller on 20 foot master angler
Anyone have an anchor roller or pulpit on their small seacraft??? I am thinking about putting a anchor roller on my boat. The reason is i want to reclaim all of storage. I know i will have to redisgn the front of my boat,,move lights,,cleats and so on. I will also have to figure out how to store the rope. Think i can just use a large roller maybe 20 inches long, put proper backing on it and keep my anchor there at all times. Main thing is i dont want the anchor to be able to hit the hull. I thought about a pulpit also,,but that seem to be a little overkill for a 20 foot boat.

Re: anchor roller on 20 foot master angler
be careful with a roller you may hit the trailer winch stand at some ramps i had a 25' proline that i had to remove the anchor and unload and reload with the trailer out of the water quite a bit or it would hit

Re: anchor roller on 20 foot master angler
I approached the situation a little differently as follows:
I bought 300' of double braid rope - got a deal on e-bay I also got a plow type anchor that fits easily in the front locker (hydrobubble) I made a small half circle notch in the top of the anchor locker door so that I could close the door on the remaining rode while anchored. The double braid lays easily in the anchor locker and tangles very little coming out. The plow anchor fits in with the line and is probably the best anchor I've used on a small boat in sand, mud and especially grass, which fouls danforths.

Re: anchor roller on 20 foot master angler
I put a roller and mooring bit on my 23 CC. I like the set up, I keep the boat on a mooring so I wanted the mooring penent to be on the centerline of the boat and needed somthing take the eye of the penent. I use a Bruce anchor and set it up so the end of the anchor shank rests on the base of the mooring bit when the anchor is snug in the roller. I made the bit out of 2" SS pipe so I can wrap the chain around the bit to stow it.

What you need is a hawsepipe or deck pipe over center of anchor locker. Then line will drop right down into anchor locker when you pull the anchor. Here's the post I did on anchor bracket I installed last year: anchor bracket installation

Re: seastrike
here what is on mine, I think its a hawsepipe - its like the ones in the stern to put the dock lines down thru to the cleats. Somebody put one in the bow for the rope - Susan figured out the shank of the anchor goes right down there and the flukes lay nicely on the deck - it never bounces or anything been up there 3 yrs - Even Carl was amused when he saw it. I have never seen it either and it was her idea but sure works better than anchor chocks

Re: seastrike
I considered the hawserpipe approach but since I wanted to be ale to stow the anchor away when the boat is on the mooring I still wanted the line to be routed thru the door to the anchor locker. Your set up looks nice, I'm ahppy with mine. I use the boat mostly for spear fishing and once I'm in a location i have short runs between anchor drops.

Re: seastrike
I have a couple different sizes so mine are attached to the rope with a big SS spring loaded clip to the shackel- a pinch of duct tape makes sure it doesn't open by accident but it didn't before. makes removing or switching a snap literally - I think they are used on sailboats mostly
