Default 1998 90 hp Johnson binnacle needed

I'm looking for a control box that will fit a 1998 90hp Johnson. The one I have is very rusted out inside. The mounting holes have rusted through and it is being held on the console by wood screws into the fiberglass. Will a later model control box work? I need whatever will work. Any help would be appreciated!

Oh - I guess they call it a binnacle?

A binnacle control is mounted into the surface of the console, and the key switch is remotely mounted. A control box, also called side-mount controls, generally mounts to the outside of the console or to the gunwale and has the key switch mounted into it.

This is a binnacle control:

FrFrank,

Thanks! I have a binnacle mounted on top of the console that also has the ignition key incorporated with it. I'll get a pic in the morning.

My MA has got a 1999 Johnson 175, binnacle with ignition, kill switch, and alarm speaker all within, or as one unit. Salvage yard would be my first try. Good Luck. Part II.

I've also got one. An OMC binnacle with key switch, tilt/trim and all the cables, electrical harness and two sets of control cables from my 23' SC. It was actually connected to a 200hp. I can send a picture if you want.

OMC changed the wiring harness style in `96 and incorporated the horn and key in the Binnacle. Just replaced the horn as it was weak. Now I need to do the cables as they are stiff and really touchy.
