Re: John Holmes, {the boat builder}
I'll ask my buddy, in a couple days. He knows most of the guys in the early cold-molded days on till today.

Re: John Holmes, {the boat builder}
John used to own a boat yard right down the road from me. Nice guy, but a bit eccentric, good reputation. I did some work in that yard. Most of his work (at least what I saw) was extremely good. I know nothing of his boat building.

Re: John Holmes, {the boat builder}
Here's a thread on THT...http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-...sportfish.html. Gotta get past all the "other" John Holmes BS, apparently pretty decent, cold-molded, I think the bow could have used quite a bit more flare...JMO.
Sorry, gofast, didn't see it was you who posted. Gotta be more on the net about him...PM Ken at Propgods or Rob Wilhoit at the Boathaus. They may know some more. I was at Wellcraft from '94-'00, never heard of his shop... |

Re: John Holmes, {the boat builder}
No worries SeaBob!
I just was curious. I like old boats.When I saw that the listing had expired so I couldn`t see the pics, it got me wondering. Suprised this thread hasn`t blown up. Thanks Bruce. GFS |

Re: John Holmes, {the boat builder}
finally asked my buddy and he didn't remember anything...funny enough Steve French was on the boat with him when I called...Mr. French is one of if not the finest designer of the best/fastest running sportboats made...he didn't have much to say either.
