Default My boys first deer

I know it's not fishing, but i'm pretty happy about it.

After three weeks and countless shots at better deer, my 11 year old on "hooked up" last weekend in the muzzleloader season.

It's not a big deer, but that's a pretty genuine smile. Not sure mine was any different.

BTW, He put a pretty good shot on it through the front shoulders but missed any vitals.........
dad had to put the shot in his azz when he got up somehow and run away.

Congrats! to the young man and his proud Dad. He'll remember hunting with you forever.

Looks like muzzle loaders have come a long way since the old Thompson Center Kentucky long rifle kits.

This is what it is all about....
The right of passage!
Keep the boy around guns, boats and fishing..
He will turnout OK!

Congrats, Ken

PS: floorboy my previous post was all about guns...

Way to go! The smile says it all. I am very thankful to get into waterfowl hunting when I was 10, haven't missed a season in 16 years now.

I've yet to see a good recipe for horns, I wish him a hundred more.

Congrats to your son and you. That buck is bigger than the first one I killed years ago and bigger than anything I've killed so far this year. Cherish these moments. My dad passed too soon for me to have any of these memories!

Nice pics Rod.Your son looks like he truly enjoys the sport.Cherish these times with your children, and take lots of pictures.
My son fished with me every weekend until he became interested in girls and cars. Now he's a grown man with a high pressure job,a newborn, and living far from home.We don't get to fish together anymore.Hopefully In a few years,I can get my new Grandson into the addiction.

The boat looks good in Lake of the Woods.Glad you were able to find one in such nice condition. She sits exactly like mine does with the kicker,a tad stern heavy.
