Re: Copies of the 15' Scamp
I was told by Paul Hoppes, from Sailfish that he made a 15 0r 16 vdh flats skiff as a prototype or one off for a guide buddy once. He said that it liked to blow out in turns so they never really went any further, not sure if any one ever splashed a scamp, doubt it though.

Re: Copies of the 15' Scamp
Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of blowing out in turns - I was fished in to buying a Carolina Skiff Seachaser 18' flats boat a few years ago. BIG MISTAKE. I almost lost the boat lowing out in a turn. Very unstable in turns. Very poor workmanship out of the mold. However, a very stable dry ride in a heavy chop. I bought it on my son's recommendation and because they told me it was made from an old Hoog mold. I can't believe a Hoog would blow out like that one did!
